We are seeking an experienced and insightful Political Editor to lead our political coverage. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of political affairs, excellent editorial judgment, and strong leadership skills. They will oversee political reporting, manage a team of journalists, and ensure accuracy, fairness, and depth in political news coverage.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage all political content, including news articles, opinion pieces, and investigative reports.

Assign stories, provide editorial guidance, and review political coverage for accuracy, fairness, and objectivity.

Work closely with reporters, contributors, and analysts to shape political narratives and coverage.

Edit articles for clarity, coherence, and adherence to editorial standards.

Ensure balanced and unbiased political reporting, adhering to ethical journalism practices.

Monitor political developments, elections, policies, and legislative activities to guide coverage strategies.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with political sources, policymakers, analysts, and experts.

Collaborate with multimedia teams for digital, video, and social media storytelling.

Analyze audience engagement and adjust content strategy accordingly.

Uphold journalistic integrity and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Political Science, Communications, or a related field.

1+ years of experience in political reporting, editing, or newsroom management.

Strong knowledge of political systems, governance, policies, and current affairs.

Excellent writing, editing, and analytical skills.

Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

Experience managing a team of journalists and freelancers.

Proficiency in digital publishing platforms and content management systems.

Understanding of SEO, audience analytics, and digital media trends.

Strong ethical judgment and commitment to unbiased reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in investigative journalism or data-driven political reporting.

Background in broadcast or multimedia journalism.

Established network of political sources and contacts.

Familiarity with election coverage and policy analysis.
